    ATV electrical gremlin

    Pulling my hair out on this one. I have a brand new factory wire harness (got rid of previous owner jerry-rig), new rectifier and fuses. All lights work and I have power to the starter. Unit turns over but I have no voltage coming to the coil. All switches and handlebar controls tested out. Magneto resistance numbers are in spec. All I can think of now is the CDI which the service manual says is rarely the cause of electrical issues.

    I know the voltage coming out of magneto is very small then goes through a coil which makes it very large.

      True and the CDI also steps up the voltage. I think it is the culprit since it is really the only component there is no test for and I have tested everything else.
