Broken Knife... Can it be fixed?

My Grandma has had this knife for a long time, and she says it's better than any other knife. I'm not sure why but she still tries to use it after she broke it a few wks ago. I was wondering if any knife makers think it could be repaired? I wouldn't think so but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help! Click image for larger version

Depends on the steel that it is made from. You would have to drive out or drill out the pins. Then weld it back together and grind it down. Someone that knows what they are doing and doesn't get the blade too hot when welding it or grinding the weld back down should be able to I would think with good results.

Grannies favorite knife...can it be fixed??? You bet it can...I'm sure any knife maker worth his name can re-drill,or weld and grind,or repair in some way....then using the original scales, put it back together.....I'm not a knife maker and I could fix it for my grannie...if I had one...

Yep, maybe take it to a shop that has a tig welder after you get it taken apart...?

When might you want it finished by- date?

The repair would be a good thread by itself given the back story

I would be more than happy to weld it back for you. The wood work is over my pay scale but the welding would be my pleasure.

If my grandmother were still alive, I'd sure fix her favorite cooking knife.
I miss her, and sure miss her Czech cooking!!!!

Like it was said, it can be fixed.
I'd clean up the wood a bit and then reassemble it.

I didn't know it was happening on other threads. I almost feel bad...well, not really.

I sure wish my Grannys were around and I could do this for them!

I think ARKY, I mean Razorback01, can get the job done. If you let him do it I'll cover the shipping to and from.

No time frame on the knife just wanted it to be fixed. I would try to weld it but I didn't wanna mess it up. I used to stick and mig weld a lot but haven't done it in a while since Dad sold his machines when we moved. Thanks for all the Input guys!
