LOL! Me too a few years back. Lost 300# of corn in one week.
Never ever anything plastic again.

I bet all his little squirrel buddies refer to him as Robin Hood! With all those golden kernels hitting the ground!

This is the very reason I don't do anything plastic that I plan on leaving in the woods.

I hate corn bandits of all kinds!

I just got back from the ranch and I found one of my feeders chewed up. I put a metal lid on it.

I tired to put an old license plate over and the the little rats peeled it off. So I went old fashion and used a heavy rock and ratchet strap. Squirrels then counter attacked by chewing strap off the ratchet strap. And crawling inside to eat.

So I used an old street sign and attached it to lid.
K.A.S.!
From experience I suggest using wire to secure the lid onto the top of the drum instead of bungee cord.

Also, what type rig is that considered to be with the license plate, rock, and ratchet strap in the 2nd picture?

J/K. Good luck with your squirrel prob. Might need you or your kids to sit out there with the .22 or the Gamo pellet rifle. That's some fun huntin for kids.

If you have no plans of eating them and just want to get rid of them, go to the feed store and get some Bar Bait rat killer. Beats the heck out of buying new feeders.

So far they have not chewed any more holes in it.

Whoops! I thought that other plastic barrel was yours as well; but I see now that it was Judd's....

My apologies C4.....

You could have, and still can, save a lot of time (and $ in the long run) by buying a $15-$25 steel feeder barrel lid.
But it would have been nowhere near as "fun" as what you did.

Just get a 33 gal trash can
use 3/32 aircraft cable to hang it, it's too small for them to climb
