I heard 2 small volleys today on fork while we were fishing. Saw a dozen birds off the road in backwater on my way back to the camp yesterday. 25 crappie > 4 teal and 8 million skeeters to this old boy!!

Congrats slammer and medina!
Slow for us in Garwood this am. We hunted a pond that was good yesterday. Today birds weren't even in the air around us. Guys went where we were yesterday and got their limits for 2.

Love everything about this pic and yall's rig, I almost pulled the trigger on a 1638 with an OB on the hunt deck last year but it just wasn't big enough for what we needed at the time. Nice job and keep us posted on how this setup works for you this year!

7 limits by 7:45am outside of El Campo on Saturday morning. We literally saw thousands of birds off in the distance. My dog got real tired real fast.

Tons of teal in El Campo. We shot a 7 man by about 8 AM. The first 10 min of our hunt was spent watching thousands of birds high fly over us. It was incredible!

Our guide estimated we saw 10k teal. Weíve hunted the same ranch for 9 or 10 years and itís usually pretty good, but just the amount of teal in the air yesterday morning made it really special.

Thanks, my little rig is a little smaller then my past boats and the motor being a 4 stroke does not have the umpth im used to on older 2 stroke motors but overall I am super happy with it and very stable rig. 3 of hunted out of the boat yesterday and not once was it rocky or unstable. I would recommend this set up to someone and for sure have the hunt deck!

Yeah, Iím concerned about that myself with no front this week and all this rain it might spread what birds we have out. Trying to decide if I want to chance it or go west for doves and skip teal this year. This Saturday was going to be my only chance to hunt during teal season anyway.

We had a good opening day out in Brookshire. Ended up with 22. Sunday we had high hopes with a decent north wind all night. Our birds ended up pushing out and nothing replaced them. Didnt see a teal Sunday.

However the dove showed up with the north wind. After we packed up a buddy called that hunts down the road and told us to come shoot some doves. We ended up with 10 in a bout an hour.

Looking forward to Saturday and Sunday. With all this rain, good chance the birds will spread out. But hopefully it will get some much needed rain to the Katy prairie.

Ducks unlimited reports big numbers of bwt still in south dakota

"there are an exceptional number of blue-winged teal up here heading into the third week of September. They all seem to be pretty content, and for good reason, as we have a lot of water,” Toay says.

Same story for me as well in Garwood. Hoping they are just on sheet water and a lot of it will dry out today.

No cold fronts moving through between now and the end of the season....
Think I'm going to take this weekend off, give it a try again on wednesday and at least one hunt, if not two on the final weekend.

Day 8 Garwood
Me & the boy got 4. Had 1 get by otherwise that was our chances. Got 1 dove too. Buddies down the road got 9. LOTS of people out,but birds not around us. South of us was shooting good. There are pockets around & if you are there shooting is good, otherwise slow mornings for killing. Beautiful mornings for taking in God's creations though! Bring on day9!!!
