Water softener is rusting stuff in the garage

My workbench/tool storage is near my water softener. Is there a way to keep the salt from softener from rusting the stuff I keep near it?

Maybe some sort of "barrier" like a wall of sort

Dad used to keep his bucket of chlorine tabs for his aerobic system in his garage. He started wondering why all his tools/etc were rusting over there. Pointed it out to him, and he decided to put them outside...

You might need to build some sort of enclosure with an exhaust fan ventrd to outside.

I did hear the tablets would cause as well. I had some septic tank tablets near that I moved as well. I’ll see if that helps. I had read where the water softener shouldn’t be causing the issue

My softener is not making any of my stuff rust, but the salt container is sealed very well.

However, my pool shock packets have destroyed my metal cabinets and stainless work bench. It was too late once I realized what was doing it. Anything in a 4 ft radius of those bags is rusted.
