I'm moving towards the 156 bergers. Wanted to shoot the the 147's but im shooting them too fast out of the 4 groove proof. They are constantly blowing up mid flight... They both shoot the 143's well but I don't trust them on game long term.

Fisher, what are the main specs of your rifles? Barrel lengths, twist, LA or SA, etc. Have you started handloading for them yet?

They are both from last year's TBH APR deal. Twin rifles. 24" proof sendero 1-7.5 twist. LA. AG stock, APR action, APR bdl, hellfire brake. I have not started reloading for it yet. Will soon. Shot the 143's last year as I didnt have time to load before season. Plan is to shoot the 156's. That was my plan from the begining which is why I went 1-7.5

Cool thanks. That jives with the advice I was given. SA for 140ish and go with a 1-8” twist barrel. Or use a LA with 1-7.5” for the heavier bullets.

I've noticed that Nosler now has 3 loads coming out this year. 120 gr E-Tip, 140 gr Accubond and 142 gr Accubond LR

Federal has a load with a new bullet coming out also. 130 gr Terminal Ascent

For those with experience with this round......do you think getting between 3150 and 3200 with the light 130 grain bullets is doable with a 22” barrel?

I’m looking to replace my 270 win and I shoot 130’s at 3150 out of a 22” barrel and would like to be able to duplicate this with a PRC.

Seen a guy on Rokslide.com getting 2975 with 139 Scenar and a suppressed 18" barrel. I'm sure he's in dangerous territory though

I have 2 GAP rifles in the 6.5 PRC and one in the 300 PRC. I shoot 1/4 MOA groups at 1250 with ease (with both). The 6.5 is pushing 3100 with custom loads and right at 3k with 143 eldxs. I wouldnt think twice about using it on any animal ranging from elk on down. Great sheep gun. A friend of mine and I went took the rifles on antelope hunts in October and were hitting goats at 400+ With 30-40 mph winds. The 6.5 PRC is my go to, with over 50 bolt guns in the safe. The con is going to barrel life, but for $500 Ill gladly do a barrel swap every 1500.

3.25” groups at 1,250 yds with ease is pretty impressive. You’d walk away with a pocket full of cash at most shoots.

My APR 6.5 PRC that I picked up on Friday. Shots 11-13 with 143 Eld-x factory ammo. Public range with a bunch of people doing AR-15 mag dumps all around me. Will try again during the week when the range doesn't have so many people there. Very pleased so far!!
