A firefighter paramedic that I work with went to the emergency room 2 days ago after he heard his knee “pop”. He has a knee replacement 2 years ago after determining he had no cartilage. They used a type of medical cement in the knee replacement and a portion of it became lodged in his artery, blocking blood flow to his lower leg. Several clots formed and the muscle has died. He spent 13 hours in surgery on Thanksgiving receiving a complete bypass of vasculature for a last ditch effort. This was unsuccessful. Chief sent out an email today saying his leg will now have to be amputated. My heart is breaking for his family for he has 4 young children and an amazing wife.
Please pray for my FF brother, Gary, and his family. They are great people and this is devastating for my entire department.
