It is true however that there is an organized effort to manipulate data and social events to cause conflict and divisiveness in our population. It is more insidious than MSM and fake news, because it uses bait that we hadn’t caught onto as bait yet. I wanted folks to listen to the discussion so that they could arm themselves with awareness to help prevent taking the bait in the future.

Truthfully, I’d like to do an experiment at a protest where in the midst of people going full 2 Minutes Hate, a handful of the opposing side extends a handshake and an offer to sit down, pick something to work on together, and see if there’s a way to actually solve something that matters despite being from opposing sides.
    To your last paragraph,
You could successfully do that with the moderate or "normal" democrats but those are jumping ship right and left after the NY abortion bill.. It's has a bunch of them rethinking what the Democratic Party has become.. You will NEVER be able to sit down and have a civil conversation with the radical, socialist that have taken the party over...
Can you imagine trying to have a civil, sit down conversation with Shumer, Pelosi, Corey Booker, the Muslim chick, Kamala Harris or that Cortez fruit cake.. I wouldn't even attempt it...

Let me ask you something simple. Why do you think trump won in 2016, and where did your vote fall?

The data indicates that the overwhelming majority of Fox News viewers are there to watch the conservatively biased opinion shows, night after night after night. It is the biggest single political echo chamber on cable TV today. They don’t fail to remind us of this by pumping their ratings.

My take on Trump....he won the primary because Republicans wanted a street fighter for a candidate and he won the general because Hillary carried too much baggage. His margin of victory in the swing states that put him over the top was very narrow, and had Comey not dropped a bomb on Hillary’s campaign by restarting the e-mail investigation 10 days before the election, she might have done better with independent voters and squeezed by Trump. Had the Democrats run someone semi-normal with little to no baggage, I believe they would have won easily. Not sure if Bernie would have pulled it off. Kind of doubt it. Hillary was the anointed one and the Democrats got what they deserved for stacking the deck in her favor. I voted for Trump in the Texas primary. I don’t support dominionist, quasi-theocrats like Ted Cruz, although Trump has demonstrated he isn’t much better in that regard. I held my nose and voted for Trump in the general. Unfortunately, the Democrats haven’t learned and look to be heading down the path of nominating someone even worse than Hillary this time around. Reasonable Democrats like Howard Schultz see where this is going and are trying to stop it. I hope they are successful, but I suspect they will fail.

              Tribalism and divisiveness

I see the thread has gone full tribal, with a small dose of global warming ignorance sprinkled in for good measure. So much for any hope of enlightenment gaining hold in the P/CE anytime soon. Good try by the OP, but the superstition and confirmation bias are just too strong.

I too voted for trump twice. I do not care for the antics at times but the policy is right up my alley. I do think this spending bill is a big mistake however. So if Shultz or another moderate is successful could you see yourself voting D? Pure curiosity as I too want to see the D come back toward the center. Purely because the socialist push is very dangerous and ill informed imo.

Yeah that’s why you’d have to approach it as an experiment. You could easily get attacked just for crossing the street. But I think if some sense of willingness and civility could take hold, it would help the middle take back control. It would be great if the moderate right stood up and said our version of wack jobs needs to STFU, and the moderate left said ya know what ours does too. And then both could work together to tell the fringe on each side to pipe down. I don’t know, maybe the pendulum will swing back that way. I think there are signs it might, but they are pretty weak and infrequent. Got to support that when and where it happens or the authoritarian types will keep the momentum and steamroll us all.

Ok here is some enlightenment for you.. I voted for Trump every time I had a chance but he drives me nuts.. I believe he is a complete idiot at times. Sounds extremely dumb at times and he reminds me of a high school kid with his tweeting BS.. He was 1,000,000,000 times better than the alternative.
With that being said I do believe he is USA first and he and his addmin. are trying to steer this country in the right direction.. I would take him over a Bush anyday... I will vote for him again in 2020..

No one did more damage to the Democrats chance at winning than Obamas legacy and the dems picking Hillary as their candidate.. With those 2 they were done before they even began, even with the MSM on their side.. AND they wont stand a chance the next election either for the simple reason that their leaders are too far left. Over the cliff..

I think you’re missing the point. The objective wasn’t to sway the election. It was to make both tribes hate each other even more. Mission accomplished. Now all you hear is “those libtards, socialist, Obama this, Hillary that” or “ those conservatives, fascist, racist, xenophobic, Trump this or that”. It’s sad because we’ve lost sight that we are ALL Americans and will stand together or all fall together. The Russians know, the only way to weaken America is to divide it against itself and they’re playing that strategy pretty well it seems. Half the country hates the other half.

It’s funny how us Conservatives have gone silent on deficit spending. We are in record debt, spending money at an unprecedented clip, record military spending on already bloated defense budgets. 18% this year alone over last year. And not one peep about the spending bills? Thought we were the party of fiscal responsibility.

That went out the window about 20 years ago. Now, we are focused on saving the country from the socialist onslaught while hoping one day that fiscal responsibility thing makes a return.

Won’t be a country worth saving when this debt catches up to us...and it will. We don’t even pay the interest on the debt, let alone the debt. You can’t keep operating in the red indefinitely. We are so busy fighting the culture wars (fueled by outside influence and media money) that we don’t see the cliff ahead. But we sure do keep busy trying to take down the socialist liberals. We do have some socialist threats: the intelligentcia, MSM, etc. But you wanna guarantee that socialism spreads? Watch the country have an extended catastrophic economic meltdown and see where the young people turn. Oh well, all great nations eventually fall from that greatness. Sad but 100% true.
