    Ripcord help!

Just got a new ripcord for my new bow.
I've had a ripcord in the past so I'm fimilar with them.
    Problem:
The new one's thumb assist doesn't work

When you press down on the thumb assist on my old bow, the saddle pops up and locks in the upright position until you draw and release or let down.

The new one: when I press down on the thumb assist it won't allow you to do anything it's locked in the down position until you draw the bow...
Is it defective? Or am I missing something?

If I didn't explain it well enough or you need a pic, I can provide one.

    Thanks for your help.

i just put a new ripcord on mine as well. it will go into the upward position with the thumb assist, but it seems like its rubbing internally. it kinda grinds. the tech who put it on, says its all good. it shoots well. i know this didnt help, but i kinda know your pain.

Mine is about 2 years old and will flip up with my thumb. I don't know why they would change the design.

      I'd email them.

There is a square washer that is spring loaded inside, and the cord runs thru this washer.
More than likely, your rest has been out of time, forcing washer thru cycle, and burred inside.
It is very easy to dismantle, and look inside.
A very little oil will smooth this out, but rest needs to be re-timed.

this is why i'm changing to a WB. to many things can go wrong in the field and leave you left to watch others hunt!

Nothing else is wrong with it, it works fine other than that.

If I draw, it comes up fine, and if I short draw, it'll even stay in the upright position, and it drops like it support to, I am just unable to use the thumb assist.

                Thanks Rock,
Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to take it to the shop?

I run the cord thru the cable and leave it long,(it aint going nowhere), so that I can simply draw the bow and set the rest at any time.
If yours is done like this, you can remove the two allen screws on side of rest, let it unwind slowly, keeping position in mind, and look at square washer and the spring that pushes it into place,
You will recognize the track once you have it apart, so just look for burrs.(lightly oil this track)
Once you put it back together, cock rest, pull cord thru cable till tight, then simply draw the bow and rest will self-time.

If that happens in the field, give the chord a little tug while using the thumb button. It should pop up. Or switch to a qad. They don't fail until failed upon. Lol
