    Billboard ponds

I bought a 24x48 billboard sign (Austin formula 1 race event) from a guy off Craigslist for $20

Found a place on my property that looked like a good catchment area

I raked all the leaves out of the bowl then pulled/macheted all the weeds so they wouldnt poke a hole in the liner

I then laid the liner placing a few heavy stones on the edge of the billboard

That was the week before memorial day
Checked it yesterday and at full pool it is 28 inches deep in one corner
    Avg dept is 8-10 inches

Buncha frogs already took up residence

The real test will be if it holds water come September 23rd or so

It will hold just fine. I know people that have used them to build backyard koi pond and they've lasted for years.

Yeah I know it will hold as the material is really thick

My main concern is will August and September provide enough rainfall so evapiration (it is only 3/4 shaded) won't turn it into a mud pit

About a quarter mile from this water hole I put out a kiddie pool about six months ago and they been drinking out of that non-stop

A landowner told me to hold year round, you need to go 18’ deep.

          That's REALLLY deep
I know there are thousands of stock tanks half that deep that hold year round
All I need is a good six inches or so to get me to halloween

Anyone know if this would hold up to pigs in the rocky soil of the hill country? Thinking about trying this maybe doubling the liner for good measure

Doubt it. We tried once with a real pond liner, pigs ****ed it up like everything else

                    pray for rain
