    Back to school parade?

Tomorrow morning, the City of Allen is going to block off several streets in the neighborhood. Going to have a back to school parade. I figure a couple of police officers will be used to escort, folks that do not know about it are going to be ****** when they try to go somewhere and for what? A bunch of grade schooler's that don't want to go back to school yet! I just don't understand it.

I personally think that is a way cool idea!

Ok so a few people get upset...

Great way to make kiddos feel welcome back to school instead of making it a bad and dreaded thing kick it off on an up beat!

Our country town has a Watermelon Festival right before school starts. Parade, games, dunk booth, arts and crafts, ice cream, Watermelon, etc. All around good time. Not really a deal to celebrate back to school, but the timing of it usually indicates that. It's a great time for all to come and hang out with friends they haven't seen all summer.

No issues here with celebrating anything!

It would be OK for something like a festival. But each school is having it's own parade on different days.

I guess I am getting to be a GOF. I think the whole thing is silly. A city wide festival would be cool though. Oh well....... they better stay off my grass.

My wife taught in Allen for 7 years and participated in the parade I think most of those years. She loved it- the kids loved it. Always seems to be a hit.

My granddaughter is going into 4th grade. This is the first we've ever heard of the parades.
