Default Charlie Robison Retires

https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/t...after-surgery/

One of the members of the First Family of Texas Music—and a landmark musician and songwriter for a quarter century—shocked and saddened fans on Monday (9/24) evening when he announced that he’s calling it quits. In a short note to fans, Charlie Robison let it be known that he will no longer be pursuing music, either in the studio or on the stage after suffering complications from surgery that have left him unable to sing.

Playing some of his final shows on the “Unleashed Live” tour with fellow Texas country stalwarts Jack Ingram and brother Bruce Robison at the first of the year, Charlie had been mostly out of the spotlight recently, leading to speculation about his health and well-being.

What a heartbreaker! I was just looking at his website trying to find out when and where he’s playing in the future and was curious why there were no dates. He will always be one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.

The first artist to get me listening to the genre. Lots of great memories (and things I can’t fully remember) listening to his music.

One of the top “sing along in the truck with my kids tunes”.

My daughters love this song.

Sorry he’s no longer able to sing. I hope he keeps the pen busy.

Just found out this morning. Sad to hear he has always been one of my favorites and always a great live show. Hopefully he will continue to write songs and help other red dirt artist get on their feet. Keep up the good fight CR! Doesn't get any better than "Loving County".

Wow, he was my all time favorate. My wife and I would go to at least one of his concerts every year. A lot of really fun memories looking back at all those concerts. No good way to spin this, it sucks. Very sorry for him.

I was at one of his concerts in Stephenville in the late 90's. It was in the middle of some pasture that had a big lake. We camped out after having a good time all day listening to music and doing what college kids do. I woke up in the middle of the night to go pee and outside my tent, sitting by the fire was Charlie playing his guitar and singing by himself. I sat and listened to him for awhile and then told him to put the fire out when he was done and I went back to sleep. lol I had no idea he would get so big later on.

Saw this last night, sucks to hear! Like many others his music was an anthem for my high school and college years. First concert I saw when I moved to CS was him at the Midnight Rodeo.

This was a good one to turn on while cruising the backroads

Some of y'all sound like he died.

Not good news for sure.

One year in Steamboat at Musicfest he blew out his knee on the slopes. Show cancelled? I think not. He kicked *** as usual while chugging from a bottle of Jack. He was two sheets to the wind by the time he was done.
