    Snakes In Your Area Poll

With the warmer weather coming and snake season upon us, I want to try something. I want to poll the TBH family and try to make a good database of the most common snakes in certain areas of the state. People are always asking for ID help and I think this could help out. PLus I love snakes and learning about them.

So I'm asking you to list all the snakes you have seen at one particular location (your home, lease or property) and put them in order of most commonly seen.

    Here's mine:

    Land type: Property
    City: Sheridan, TX
    County: Colorado
    1. Texas Ratsnake
    2. Common Gartersnake
    3. Copperhead
    4. Eastern Hog-nosed
    5. Cottonmouth
    6. Texas Brownsnake

    #2
    Wise County.

    Rat Snake
    Copperhead
    Velvet Tail Rattlesnake

    All in my yard.

Common watersnake, rat snake, rattlesnake, granger lake area. Rarely do I see cotton mouths or copperheads. Can count on one hand these last two in twenty years..but these two are camoed up pretty good unless they are in the road.

                  Madison County

Owned the place for almost 4 years and out there 3 days a week.

I have seen 1 copperhead, several garter snakes, 1 water snake no cottonmouth.

My neighbors dog kills copperheads all the time.

                    Harris county Tomball/Cypress area:

In our ponds and near timber areas I have seen

                    Water moccasin
                    Copperheads

Seen other snakes in the grass, but have no clue what they are... dead, dead is what they are

In midland my last years encounters were only rattlesnakes and maybe a couple of bull snakes.
