    Texas Axis Hunt - Recommendations

Doing some research for my old man. He's wanting to get on a good axis this year (rifle) with about a $4k budget - all in. Looking for a reputable outfitter in or around the hill county area with comfortable lodging and above average customer service. Timeframe he's looking at would be anytime from December to March/April.

Any recommendations you guys could provide would be appreciated.

The YO Schreiner Ranch is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, where exotic animals were introduced as early as the 1950s. The YO Schreiner Ranch provides hunters with fair chase year-round hunting for world class native and exotic wildlife. Book your next hunt with us!

Some of the best axis around.

              Isn't T4 archery only?

That YO Ranch looks pretty nice, perfect location too. Anyone have any experience with them or hunted there recently?

Double Diamond Outfitters with Wes Mundy take some really great axis every year. Only problem is I believe he does most of his hunts later in the spring/early summer when they are rutting harder.

X2. Not a kick and shoot and they’ve killed some 37” deer. Part of the famed YO and the most productive part of the ranch before it dissolved. Also within your price range.

My uncle dates the owner...know them well. I guided two summers out there about 15 years ago. That portion of the ranch was known as the live oak section. Saw the world record killed off that portion of the ranch. If you want to hunt those axis right, you’ll wait until mid June - mid July and hunt them iin the rut.

Bringing this back up to the top... trying to find an axis doe hunt that won’t break the bank. Any recommendations?
