It's finally here! I've enjoyed reading the live hunts from the past so I thought I'd repay the favor since I was lucky enough to draw archery either sex at the Daughtrey. It's looking like the weather will be pretty mild in the day with lows in the 40's and highs in the 70's. It's gonna be a sloppy dreary one for sure! I'll be out in it every second I can stand it. Rain gear is packed and I'm good to go!
Planning on rolling out early tomorrow morning for the 6.5 hr drive with a stop in Lampasas to donate some of my rat hole funds outside of the wife's knowledge.. I've had my eyes on one of Millennium's tripods for a while now so what a better excuse to splurge!? I'm still finishing up some honey-do's and taking down the Christmas lights, then it's a trip to the grocery store for corn and food and another practice session making sure my bow is perfect. I'll attach a pic of my grouping in a hard cross wind from yesterday at 40 yds. I think a 4" group should be good... and these arrows my buddy Greg Poole made for me fly like a dream!
I'll be primitive camping on site, and even with the rain I can't wait to get out into the peace and quiet. I'm getting a data plan for my truck which is AT&T and my phone is Verizon so hopefully one or the other will work well enough to keep the updates coming often. The biologist said as of yesterday morning the youth hunters had only gotten a couple of 130's; hopefully that means they left the big boys for me.
Stay tuned! I'm super pumped! Since I'm hunting solo you guys can be my co-hunters
