Default Grapevine Lake draw

Got here super early only to realize they arenít giving out duck or general hunting permits today, only deer lottery.

Be advised.

Talked to one of the guys there and he said it's because they had a lot of people not actually get hunters ed or their hunting license last year. This year for the general and waterfowl they're waiting till after the 18-19 license comes out so you have to show a current license

Maybe I'd finally get drawn if I say I'm with the ASPCA and bought a hunting license just to take a spot away from a hunter...

Do you have to fill out the application in person or is this something you can do online?

I just put in for mine this year. IIIIFFFF I get drawn, where are the access points to get onto the property? I am new to Grapevine and having a hard time finding where to enter the land. Not looking for your stand locations or anything, just where do I park such?

What are the rules about scouting? The lady at the desk simply said "just don't get caught"....

There is a printable map online and an app for your phone (google it). Both show where the designated parking lots are. You can get creative on finding other access points but do so at your own risk. I've found the designated areas work just fine. I don't know that there are any 'rules' for scouting. It's open to the public, so just go walk around.

Is this the unofficial official 2018 thread now? .

The ArcGis app is pretty good. Itís pretty similar to OnX. As they already said, access other points at your own risk. I had an ďeffeminateĒ male homeowner yell at me in 2016 for dragging a deer out. If I could do it all over again I wouldíve went a different route, because itís a bad look for hunting and I donít know that he was necessarily an anti... but he wasnít happy nonetheless!

The ARCGIS map isnít working right now on IOS
The developer hasnít updated the app in several iOS updates, so the app wonít launch. Hopefully they get it fixed soon, because I use it on several properties throughout the year.

this is the first year in five or six that I won't be in for the draw. I hate to miss out on the odds and the fun, but I figure Larry now has slightly better odds at getting drawn. consider it your birthday gift Larry

Is that for waterfowl or whitetail?

Anyone remember, or know, the number of whitetail permits they are going to draw for?

I didn't even enter. They broke me. They win. Someone in that office probably fist pumped when the deadline came and went with no visit from Larry. They never appreciated me. They'll never know what a friend they had in me (said with a hardy double bird).

Plus we're expecting middle of November, and I have places in three counties I can hunt. Wouldn't have felt right getting drawn and not being able to use the permit to it's fullest. I'll watch this one from the sidelines and plan a triumphant return in 2019.

Kids going to have a birthday every year during deer season. Thatís either poor planning or will workout nicely as a reason for a hunting trip. Congrats though!
