We have about 4 bucks around 130", a mature buck around 140", and a 3.5 yr old that looks to be 150+. Gonna be a good year in east Texas

Anderson and Trinity Counties here. No bucks on the Anderson County place yet, but that's par for the course. They don't start showing up till mid-October, plus a reforestation of the place last year did away with about 20 acres of bedding area. It'll pay dividends in a few years when there's a lot more timber than there had been, but gotta pay the price for a few years now.

All in all I have fairly high hopes for the season.

I wish I would have done that, but I feel like I was overwhelmed by trying to decide which oaks to pay attention to.

Hunting public land this year after giving up the lease two seasons ago, and completely sitting out last year. Have a few promising sites and about to put a camera or two out.

Some of the best hunting in the county is behind your shop!!! Those silos behind my plant make great vantage points.

Henderson County here. Will be hunting hard Sep 30-October. After that my season will be focused on our baby! Purchased an additional 88 acres this past May next door and really liking what's showing up on camera. Couple mature bucks and a sighting in person of 2 larger bucks. 1 has shown up on cam and the other seems to be camera shy. Hope to put some bone on the ground opening week!

Good luck to all this season! Should be a great one.

Checking in from Wood Co. Should be a good year, cool temps, lots of rain. The bad thing the hog population is way up also. Persimmons are about the size of golf balls and acorns the size of a dime.

Got back on a lease in Newton that I was on a couple years ago. Kept the lease in Jasper and will be hunting public land a few times in Angelina and possibly Sabine county.

Going this weekend to do work at the Newton lease.

I'm in and it sure is going to be a good year, I have several shooters picked out, and several 4 & 5 year olds I hope make it through the season. I'm going to try and put one on the ground early and then focus on getting my granddad on one of the big shooters. He put me on a many of deer while I was growing up, so I figure its time for me to repay the favor and get him on one of these hard to hunt east Texas swamp donkeys. Marion, Smith, and Cass counties for me.

Just wait for it come Mid October you'll see the bucks on camera. They probably aren't bedding on the property. They really don't have to travel away from their bedding far around this time of year.

Walker and Shelby counties. Spent a lot of time in Spring and early summer moving stands, trimming shooting lanes, establishing new hand corn sites (I start off with mineral and Trophy Rock and then switch to corn in September). I'm trying to stay out of the woods as much as possible right now to allow everything to settle. Will go back in and pull camera cards in a couple of weeks. Expecting a couple of my homebody bucks to make the hit list this year and always get some new deer move in about the time the guns start firing. Should be a good year.

The game has changed. Just found and got on a little place here in Montgomery county 5 mins from the house. I went from zero hope of hunting to a pretty sweet little place right next to the house. Just put a camera up and dumped out 50lbs of golden nuggets and sprayed down with some killer niller. I'll go check it this time next week. Wish me luck

I put my first camera out last week at the house in Harrison Co. Just the usual does for now. Need a little drying to get to my lease in Marion Co. Gobs of hogs last year and signs of them still around. Muscadines are getting close and they will drag them in.

There are some great bucks on this thread. I'm sure these deer did not get that way just by eating corn. I know minerals and protein is how they get big but what if you have a small place (40 acres) surrounded by deer leases and you are lucky to see deer and don't have the equipment to plant food plots? I have been running 2 feeders for a year. But what else can you do on small acreage on a very low budget? I have thought about letting It grow up and just try to keep the fence rows mowed and the right-of-ways for hunting.

These deer all came from timber land, no protein(except maybe one neighbor). So it's possible, look what the national forest kick out every year.

Pour a cpl bags of corn on the ground every cpl weeks and do basically nothing while providing more of a refuge.
