    Shot my first axis

So my family owns a place just north of Richland springs. We have never seen axis in all 30 years of owning this place. Well tonight that changed I shot my first axis ... it’s just s spike and I got him gutted but here’s my question?? Is there a certain way to debone an axis ? I know a lot of people do steaks out of them but any advice on how to bone it out? Sorry , feel like such an amateur but I don’t want to mess up. Lord knows when I will get a chance at another one !

I’m on a place in the same area. We have axis. They are thin but I think they will populate in the next few years. I seen about 10’in a group and had them on camera. Didn’t see any bucks though.

                    Congrats!

I've been seeing a group of Axis off 45 around CR 500 the last couple of weekends. Is this the area you guys are seeing them as well?
