Did you know that in the 1500's the Muslims learned how to use the end of a goats intestines to prevent pregnancy?

And did you know that in the 1700's the British improved on the model by first removing it from the goat?

Furlong, though now standardized as a length of 220 yards (or 1/8th of a mile), the furlong was originally defined less precisely as the length of a furrow in a cultivated field. This length was equal to the long side of an acre—an area originally defined as the amount of arable land that could be plowed by a yoke of oxen in a day.

In 1869, Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna told his idea of chicle to Thomas Adams. Adams tried to make toys, masks, and rain boots out of chicle, but neither of his products were commercially successful. In 1869 he simply added flavor to the chicle! That was the first step for creating world's first modern chewing gum!

Did you know water doesn't carry electricity (don't go throw a hair dryer in the bath tub and test this) but if you take distilled water and cut the switchleg (hot end off a switch to a light) and put both ends of the wire in the water, the light will not shine. But if you take a packet of salt and pour it in the water, the light will get brighter and brighter, thus it's only the minerals in water that carry electricity.
