Matt Moore banished to bullpen. Triple A call up Yohander Mendez replacing Moore. Mendez' main qualification? His name is not Matt Moore. Good enough for me. Change is in the air.

Missed the last couple of nights of left coast ball. I just can't hang that late anymore. I did see Chirinos bow up on Matt Kemp though. Great throw by Mazara. Chirinos better stay out of that base line. Kemp is a big boy. Glad to see Chirinos stand up for himself. Gladder still the Kemp didn't kill him.

Onward we go...

You are delusional if if you think a "mini rebuilding year" is reality.

OK...here we go in crayon...read it slow...again.

"Hopefully there is some truth to the owners saying this was a mini rebuilding year and minimal spending. Gotta get done with Prince and Choo's ****ty contracts and start planning for the future."

Where is the **** did I say anything about this being a one year deal? Choo's and Princes' contracts have multi years left. Nobody said this was a one year deal or short term. I was referring to this is a start in the rebuild direction. They can't really start adding or rebuilding heavily because they are still locked into those worthless contracts. Again you were clueless in what I meant by mini rebuilding year. You just read what you wanted to hear so you could come in an criticize like usual....as if you had some part in the Astros rebuilding knowledge and success....and as if the Astros way is the only way to do it. Good grief..

Wowzers.

Iím a homer. Just in case Richard wasnít sure.

JD has by far the best track record in this clubs history. So, in JD we trust.

2 parts to this situation. This team needs starting pitching, and itís young core to take the next step forward. Maz, Gallo, Rougie, DD, etc. they need Elvis to NOT opt out.

Once Prince is off the books that will help.and Choo even tho he is still productive when he is healthy. But they are not locked into any of these crap arms long term. Minor is the only one her for a few years and I still have faith.

There will be money available to pay one or two decent arms come 2020.

Not sure what this trade deadline will bring but I do not think JD is going to run out a **** lineup come Ď20 in a billion dollar stadium.

But again it all depends on if the young guys turn the corner.

Not too far fetched from what a couple key guys from Houston did.

Mendez has rocky 2nd inning. Comes back out for third, w/ his Round Rock catcher, and has nice tidy inning. Nice.

Hit team hit.

I think the lineup will be fine. The starting pitching staff we'll have to find out about. We shall see...

That kid looks like he has something.

Going to be interesting what move is made when Elvis comes back. I hope JD figures out a way to keep IKF on the big club AND playing. I don't see how, but that's my hope. We'll see...

Big Bart giving up rockets. But they're staying in the yard. - So far. If he gets through the 6th, Bannister needs to get him out if wants him to get a win.

Gallo should be removed from the game between innings for half arsed effort in outfield.

Quality start for Bart. Hopefully the bullpen holds.

They flashed a graphic during the Astros' game last night that showed teams with the easiest schedule based on winning pct of opponents leading to the All Star break. The Rangers have the 3rd easiest schedule so they should be able to make up some ground and get their mojo going. The Astros have the easiest schedule.

I hope the schedule helps them out and at least get back in the .500 neighborhood. On a side note I am about done with the Gallo experiment. Yes I do enjoy watching his bombs when he hits one, but other than that he is a detriment to the offense. I am to the point even with Willie Calhoun's few problems I would rather give him a chance and see what he can do with the bat on the big league level. I know he won't hit as many homeruns as Gallo but I don't think he can hit any where near as bad as Gallo either. Possibly be a good spark for the offense.

Hamels going tonight. Place your bets now. Good Hamels, or Bad Hamels?

On the "every other start" theory, he's due for a rough night. I think he breaks the trend and has a good start. We'll see...

Anyone know what Y. Mendez did to get shipped back to RR? "Violation of team rules"?

They are being pretty tight lipped about Yohander. It was bad enough to ship him back to Texas but only enough to bench Odor tonight.

So, as i've gotten older i've gotten much more cynical about sports. But, once in awhile i read a story that brings me back to the greatness of sports. This is one of those stories. I knew i liked IKF. I think that kid is one helluva ballplayer. I didn't know he and Jose' Trevino are best friends. I witnessed the game winning sequence the other day. I could tell from the first replay that IKF never had any intention of slowing down when he rounded third base. He was hell bent on scoring that run. He hit another gear going from third to home. BUT, he scored, slammed that hat down, and went into hyper speed to get to Trevino. IKF wanted to score the run that got his buddy his first MLB rbi, on Fathers Day, seven days after the birth of his son, knowing the story of Trevino and his dad. What a moment. I'll admit it, i'm what a lot of folks would call a big 'ol boy, i got misty eyed reading this story. Pure greatness. I wish nothing but the best for IKF and Jose' Trevino.

I think the roster will look pretty different after the trade deadline. I hope IKF gets a regular spot, and i hope Trevino is back sooner rather than later.

PS: I thought it was the height of human cruelty for E. Jones to keep that microphone stuck in front of Trevino when he was so clearly having trouble gathering himself. Boo hiss.

Enjoy.

I didn't know about their friendship either, but as soon as he crossed home and headed to 1st I knew that was not just the kid's first walkoff...there was obviously something more to it. Awesome stuff for them.

I thought it was a little awkward for EJ as well, but she's trying to make TV, and she seemed to also be giving him leading questions to try to help him deliver a cliche and get on out of there.

I heart EJ, and IKF.

Agreed. Truthfully it probably a producer in her ear telling her to hang in there. It was just a little too long for me. EJ is alright.

ABD is not flashy but he gets it done. Sucks that we have all these highly paid scrubs and he has to struggle to get up here and make the league minimum....if even in the bullpen. I'm not saying he is a top pitcher but he's certainly somebody that gets it done more than not. A 4th or 5th he can be moreso than what we have. Yes this is KC but he's shown he could be as good or better than some of the hacks when having throwing the ball this year.
