444 is by far my favorite. With 265 interlocks it is lights out and I am confident with it enough that I shot a nice big Axis at 275 yards a couple of years ago. All my bolt rifles are extremely jealous since they seem to stay in the safe.

I'm looking into a 45-70 for nilgai but might take a look at the 444 marlin as well.

Which skinner rear sight is that? And are you using any optics on that rail?

I'm wanting to get my Marlin 336 cerekote'd and add some skinners or maybe a halo type rear sight.

Very nice. Who did the work? Did you have the mag tube shortened?

1995 Marlin. About 50 rounds through it. 10/10. Probably my favorite.

Model 94 Made in 1900. Sometime in it's life it was re-chambered to 30/30 so it really doesn't have much collector value but it has an interesting story.
Owned by a convicted accessory to murder. My Dad took him in after he did his time. He gave my dad this gun and I traded a MGB to my dad for it.

According to The Colt and Winchester International Investors Exchange it was originally chambered in 25/35

45-70 with 400 grains slung at them loaded a little hot will absolutely devastate nilgai.

Exactly why I thought about 45-70 in the first place, don't think one can take a round or two from it and make it very far.
