    Colt collector question

Curious on the value. DA 38, serial returns a manufacture year of 1900. Numbers match. I have never shot it but it functions fully and smoothly. What’s a rough value?

I would get it proffessionally appraised. You're most likely to get guesses on here, unless a member does appraisals.

I've seen Colt revolvers in worse shape with a $1,500 price tag.

Isn’t there a way through colt to pay for the full history? Who purchased, when etc?

A letter from Colt will cost you I think $150 & inform you of the birth date & where the gun was shipped to from the Colt Factory.

Coltforum is a great place to get 411...you can check timing by 'slowly' pulling back the hammer & then rotating the cylinder to check lock up. Your gun is past patina & sorta need a hands on.

          Neat old wheel regardless.

Colt letter cost you $100 and $175 express in 30 days.

            Go to Coltforum.com

I am guessing with the wear at about $600. What model is it?

It would be a Colt lightening. It needs a hands on look by someone who not only knows the differences in the models but also knows the market for those models. Condition is a big deal and its hard to assess in photos. You can sometimes look at sold items on Gun Broker and get an idea. You will want to look hard for examples that match the condition of your revolver.

Any good spots in Houston for an appraisal? Bonus points if they buy or trade as well
