Can you freeze Axis hides before tanning?

We have three axis hides we would like to get tanned but can't get them to taxi anytime soon. Can you freeze axis hides and they be ok? Any procedure we need to do prior to freezing?

If it is caped out, fold the ears in and roll the hide fur out around the ears and face. This will protect ears, lips, eyes, etc. while defrosting. It will freeze fine and most taxis send their capes to tannery. They all ship frozen.

If not yet caped, you run the risk of hair slipping at thin areas such as ears when defrosting enough to cape out.

I see now that you are referring to hides. My bad. Fold them skin in and roll up tighly like a blanket to freeze. They will be fine.

Freeze them, put in styrofoam cooler with a pack of dry ice and mail them to north Texas tannery

No salt. Fold flesh to flesh, bag individually in a trash bag, toss in the deep freeze. You are good till you find someone to process them for you.

Is there anyone or a taxi that will tan them for around $75 per hide?
