I noticed your in Menard also, AT&T has the best coverage in that area. My brother has Verizon and rarely has service. You could also try a signal booster but there is no app that will help you if you don't have a signal.

If there was an app, you are going to need service to use it between yall. That how phones communicate.

I bought a 12V cell booster for my box blinds for places where the cell service is poor. Works like a champ.

We use gotenna. It's a small device your phone connects to via Bluetooth and converts the the signal to VHF. Only able to text though no voice calls.

Might give the zello app with head phones a try. It's a push to talk app like walkie talkies.

Good for you. I keep mine around for my safety #1 and for communicating with my lease members on what they are seeing and if they need help themselves safety wise or tracking. Itís just another add to the back pack .... like binoculars or rangefinders ...the Indianís didnít have those either in the old school.

$199..... but I found mine on EBay for $124.99 a couple of years ago. They are refurbished but like new. Iíd pay $199 for it no questions asked after owning it

Itís portable in a sense. I have a very small tool box that houses a 12 v battery, the cradle and the antenna I can carry to each blind. I have an antenna and battery already now in my favorite blind that needs it but if I set up a popup for deer or turkey hunting in a suspect area I use the box.... quick and easy.

Yes that is the new and improved version. You can also buy a booster antenna for them for $20 on Amazon. Well for mine I have anyway. I don't know why it wouldn't work for that one too. It's a little more powerful at obtaining signal..

This one too. Mine was actually a refurb for $124 versus $199 and it has been awesome

Same here... only problem is everyone needs the device. My son and I use them to be able to text each other while in different stands... but you can't communicate with the "outside world"... works for us.

Download the app Zello Have everyone on your lease download it too. It lets you communicate with folks in your group and you do not need a cell signal. It was the main way people were able to communicate during Harvey, Irma etc. A friend of mine was able to communicate with is son during Hurricane Irma while we were at the Texas Football game. It is pretty cool once you get it setup.

How does the gotenna work in the hill country where a standard 2way radio breaks up due to "line of sight"?

Another idea, you could get an In-reach. It is a satellite communicator you can pair with a cell phone over blue tooth. They don't work if you are inside though (a camper or deer blind.) Honestly it is not something that you can text back and forth quickly with. There is a delay. But you can send messages to other cell phones or other people using an In-Reach. Great thing to have in an emergency or if you just want to send a message out.

If you are just looking for a cell signal at camp, a cell booster is the way to go. You could also get one for your UTV I suppose. Might be cheaper than the in reach.

Zello, the app lets you use your phone as a walkie-talkie or two-way radio as long as you have a network or WiFi connection.
Zello won't help them if they have no cell phone signal.

See what cell phone service works in your area if any and get a gophone for that provider. At 25 bucks a month it might be the answer for you and you can just put it away after the season is over.

I was going to suggest this, but the inreach mini is 349.00, and everyone has to have one that doesn't have signal. Texts come with a plan, my plan for 30 texts was $40/month. Def good for emergencies, but I got to imagine cell booster is the way to go.

Technically you lost "cellular" service nationwide 10+ years ago when they went digital.
It's not a cell phone....it's a smart phone.
