how big of a cabin are you talking about. The size of the joist depends on the span of which the room is and the weight of interior walls.

so in a cabin I would go with built up 2X12 beams under the 2X6 deck.

I have $400 in the floor. the total it cost me with some free studs is $1200 that is for every thing but paint. Lowes wanted to charge me $5500 for a painted shed the same style and size but with 2X4 rafters and floor joists.

you would need a few big beams. This is a rough sketch of what I would do. the outer beams size would very depending on blocking support from underneath.

Thanks for the PDF. I plan on using cement posts to support the beams. I really like to over engineer the foundation.

                Kool..........!!!

                Mine is 16' x 30'...........

14yrs ago the wife and I shopped around and had this shell built for just a little over $8k and spent the next 2yrs going down on the weekends to finish it out. We are both glad we did this when we were younger as it would have been a lot more difficult on us today.

Looks good LW. I would put some blocks underneath and along outer frame. Just to keep it from sagging. Like they do under a house. Will be easier now, then trying to jack it up and do it later, like my buddy back home.

Something is not quite right. Lets see, no beer and no other TBHers in the pics helping you. Looks like a fun project.
