    UDS Webber lid mod

    Start with your basic UDS

They don’t have much cooking space, around 7” between grill and lid

Then you need a Webber kettle
Finding one cheap and still useable was a challenge but we go to lots of garage sales.
    Found one for $3

You can go about this 2 ways
    1) Cut about the top 3” off the bottom and attach that ring to the UDS

    2) Get a piece of flat strap 1/8” thick

My barrel was just big enough that the bottom of the Webber kettle slipped down inside the UDS so I went with option 2 since I had a piece of flat strap laying around

Bought some gasket material like they use on BGE

It was a little bit of a challenge to get the strap in tight to inside of the barrel

I bolted one end down and worked my way around putting another 1.5” bolt every 90 deg
This holds the strap and provides points to support the upper grill

The end result is I now have 2 levels to cook on that have about 7” clearance above each one
The top rack can be easily removed and then you can do standing chickens etc

    Works like a champ

Next mod is some kind of shelf to rest a pan on or to set up remote thermometer sending unit on
