Things to consider: what is your draw length? what do you draw on your compound (40 may be less or more than you want)? is it going to be for hunting or just target shooting?
These are some questions to answer before you just listen to everybody saying to buy x or y bow.
Once you get those questions figured out, then you can start on the next list: hill/d style or Reflex/deflex, bow length, draw weight, how fat your wallet is etc....

You don't have to buy the old Root (not looking to make any $, I gave $70) if you don't want to but I promise you'll have a good time and may even learn something. There's been a lot of folks here on TBH that has helped me get started in traditional. I enjoy helping to lower the learning curve for anyone, it seems I always learn something when helping others.
