Default Flashlight Deal Alert

Some of you guys really liked these Thorfire brand lights last time I posted info on them, so I thought I'd throw it out there again. My buddy just sent me a message that these lights are on a deal where if you buy 2, they are 15% off. I don't have ties to this company, but the lights are incredible and super cheap. I probably have 15 Thorfire brand lights at this point, and all of them are crazy bright and built as well as any Surefire or Streamlight I've ever owned.

Just passing it along...

This is the light I posted last time that lots of guys liked. I carry this light in my truck, as well as all my hunting packs.

Do you have this particular light? If so, have you tried it with both 14500 and AA batteries and compared brightness?

I have 2 of these, and use the 14500 in both. It's considerably brighter.

I use these batteries:

I run every Thorfire light I have off the upgraded batteries - 18650's in the big CR123 lights, and 14500's in the smaller AA style. I even have one of their big huge S70S searchlights that run off the 26650 batteries. That thing is brighter than a big spotlight. It's crazy bright.

Here's the link to the big light:

Here are the batteries for the smaller lights (AA type):

https://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-Li-I...6eceb8d8f922e1

18650 batteries for the bigger lights:

https://www.amazon.com/NITECORE-2300...5b3c3d84075118

Just a note: some lights can NOT handle these batteries. I've never had any problems with the lights that specifically list them as an option, but I've burned up a few other lights that I just thought I'd try them in. I've NEVER had a problem with them in Thorfire lights specifically.

For 18650 I highly prefer the Panasonic batteries:

The ones I currently use are sold out, but I've had good luck with these as well.

Both the Thorfire and Nitecore batteries I use stayed charged for a good while longer than the Panasonic batteries I tried.

I've used the Nitecore, can't stand the protected circuit and it doesn't fit right in higher quality lights due to a tad bit extra length makes the caps fit really tight. The Panasonic is 3400 mah whereas those Nitecore are 2300 mah so quite a bit more capacity. Now the Nitecores I had were the 3400 mah so maybe there's a difference but Panasonics are widely regarded as the gold standard on these and I've literally never ran a Panasonic 3400 mah battery down, whereas the Nitecore 3400's would have to be recharged each night in camp for fear of them just shutting off due to the protected circuit several times. Because of their popularity the Panasonic batteries also had some knock-off issues especially on Amazon and eBay, so it's possible you got screwed with some of those. I haven't tried any Thor batteries.
edit: LOVE the Nitecore chargers, we have a 4 bank and a 2 bank older version and they are excellent.

Four anyway. I prefer CR123 batteries but ordered them with the recharge kit.

I ordered a T8s just to check it out, thanks for the recommendation. One can never have too many flashlights.

I have 2 of those, and LOVE them as well. I just randomly found this company a few years ago, and have just about every light they make now. I've never once had a bad light, or even been disappointed.

Here's the link to the VG15S for those interested in a midsize light that is mega bright.

They're pretty true to the lumen rating in my experience. Quality wise, they are totally equal to Streamlight in my opinion. They are all built like tanks.

It's funny that so many guys are saying they bought lights they don't "need". After I started this thread, I bought more as well! My wife keeps telling me she thinks I'm just terrified of the dark because I buy so many flashlights.

Yeah, I don't "need" any more either, but I will probably get some of these in order to compare to my Fenix lights. I know these would be a cheaper habit.

The only Fenix I ever had died really quick. I'm sure it was a fluke deal, because I have a few buddies who swear by Fenix. From my recollection of the quality of mine (aside from the bulb dying), I'd say these are totally on par with them.
