All I can say is WOW! Y'all have done some impressive work to build up the genetics on your place.

We are really excited about how the deer herd is coming along. We were blessed with good genetics to start with but the influx of bred does has really made things progress. Been a patient couple of years but we are getting to where we want to be. This guy walked out this evening. Not sure how old or what he was last year but I like him.

He has the look of 180" typical frame without adding him up. Very symmetrical and clean also.

I think you are very close. I put a pen to it and got almost the exact same thing. I think I got 74" up and 107" down. Ha. I'm generally a little bit low on deer when they get to his size so I arm wave and say this is a 185" buck. Hope he lives and we can find both sheds. Would love to get a score on him.

A few more from yesterday evening. It was hot but the wind helped cool it off before sundown. Deer moved very late, after 8:10 when the first deer/younger buck showed up. The droptine buck showed up about 8:15. Bigger buck moved in at 8:25 with very little light left. I was up to 5000 ISO on the last pics. The bucks are really starting to slick of and show their fall hair coats. Definitely won't be long now. Please lord, let it rain soon!

Thanks for taking photos and posting them! Yes it is super dry and has been for most of the year. We need rain but the next best thing is protein, alfalfa and lots of water down the creek. Past that, it is out of our hands.

We have been feeding for 14 years. Just under 1,000 acres and yes we are high fenced. Been a lot of fun over the years.

You can't go wrong this year. Quite a few great bucks that could continue to improve your ranch. Have you identified any management deer you are definitely trying to remove?

No we might not shoot any bucks at all. Maybe one or two but nothing of any consequence.
This guy might catch an arrow.

A couple of younger bucks that I thought might could have been twins. Both have droptines. One has 3 drops and the other has one drop but also a split G2. Same antler shape on both and both are very small bodied and hair coat color. They also came in at the same time. The one with the multiple drops did not stay around very long at all while the other stayed till dark. These two will fun to try to track thru the years.

Thanks for looking. That 12 is one of my favorites too. I remember seeing him at about 500 yards last year walking away and he looked like a giant. He is considerably better this year.......interested to see what he does in another 2 years.

Thanks. I will keep sharing as long as people are interested in seeing pics.

I am really using this thread as a management tool so that hopefully I can come back next year and be able to match up some deer pictures. I hate having to keep a thousand deer pictures on my phone.

Because we have the ability to get 20 does bred by a deer that scores 200" vs maybe 3-4 does out in the open pasture. We can insure that a large percentage of our does would be covered by an awesome buck as opposed to a few. Just like everyone else, we have deer that are not much to look at, I just don't post those . The less breeding they do, the better!

The deer in Post #117 is the target buck for the DMP pen if we are able to capture him.

He is still fairly symmetrical while having a ton of trash and splits. Long beams, decent spread and 20+ pts. Scores over 200" I think and has was really pretty last year as a 3 year old. He is one that we would be extremely happy with if we were able to duplicate many times over. There is no telling which deer actually ends up in the pen but this guy is my Dad's #1 pick.

Thanks. The time I get to sit to view wildlife and unwind is more valuable than you can every know right now. Nothing better than sitting in a brush blind(in 100 deg temps) just to see some deer and take a few pics. I need the practice with my camera and the practice of sitting in a blind at eye level with multiple deer around at close range.

Not a bad idea but I think we have better. We have larger framed deer which is what we are shooting for. He is a cool buck that we have been keeping an eye on though for sure.
Fun to have a history with these deer.
Here he is in 2015 @ 2 yrs old.

Almost the best game cam pic ever. Look at the shadow! He is the big brother to the one above. They technically are the same age and not Brothers but have had drops since they were 2 yrs old. He has double drops this year again but other side not as long.
