We had great turkey hunst at the lease this weekend. Thursday me and a friend got there at 6:30 and went straight out to hunt. My buddy is a turkey killin machine. He had one down by 7:30. He told me he could have had all 4 down but wanted to wait. The next morning we hunted together and he called my bird into 10 yards while we were sitting out on a road right by a decoy. Down he went. Friday afternoon my buddy went outside the trailer and there were 2 birds strutting out in a field about 400 yards away. He grabbed his gun and came back with both birds.I told ya he was a turkey huntin fool.
The best was yet to come. My son in law and Micheal were coming out Friday night to hunt the weekend. They had to wait for the bad weather to clear the metroplex and didn't get to the lease till 3 AM. We all slept in Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon me and Micheal went to a popup blind and set up. It was about 7:30 and 5 gobblers showed up. I got him on my knee, we grabbed the 870 youth 20 gauge and got set up. He took aim at one out at 15 yards and it was a clean one shot kill. Man, we were excited, high fiving and hugging. It was greatness.
My buddy got his 4th bird that night as well. My son in law also shot one but we never found it.
This morning was very cold and beautiful without any action.
We got 6 birds total. What great times with family and friends.
