Default Carrying in church.

Who has a CHL and carries in church? I have mine but have never taken it to worship The Lord but I probably will be very soon. I think it would feel funny bringing a firearm int Gods house but I think he will understand.

Nine people killed in church last night in North Carolina in case you haven't heard. Praying for those and there families.

We have some that carry, but I have no idea which ones. We will be asking folks not to open carry inside the buildings when it goes into effect.

Wouldn't "Unlawful" mean carrying without a permit?

Because I do know a few people with CHL who carry in church.

Default Carrying in church.

I carry in church. It's up to the discretion of the pastor. And it was South Carolina, not NC.

It's a Class "A" Misdemeanor in Texas, even with a CHL. I would check with the pastor and local authorities to confirm if you can carry in your church with the pastor's consent.

Terrorist and lunatics are going to be attracked to crowds, especially a religious group, so in my mind, it's a good idea to carry.

I have a CHL, but do not carry in church. A guy walked in mid-service a few years back. He was dressed in all white with a hoodie, backpack, and headphones playing. I made my wife move so I could be at the end of the pew. When he sat, I moved to be closer to him. That might have been a little paranoid, lol.

I use to keep my shotgun leaned against my chair at service, but we met outside by a pond and time or two we had to stop service to dispatch a snake.

The law was amended many years ago that a church now has to post a 30.06 if they don't want people to carry.

If you can carry it, you should. Do the research and you will see that unfortunately, there are a lot of shootings that take place at churches.

I have a CHL and I do carry on church grounds, in the sanctuary and when delivering a message. I am a Lay Pastor and the Youth Pastor at Magnolia Cowboy Church and a large percentage of the congregation carries and pretty much all of our leadership team. We are blessed with many of the local sheriff's department as members as well. I pity the fool who attempted anything stupid on our property.

I dont see an issue with a concealed hand gun in these times.

Our Pastor had this exact conversation after the tragedy in Fort Worth where it mentioned he reloaded 3x before taking his own life.

From a theological standpoint, I don't see anything wrong with carrying in church. Unfortunately, since I can't carry every day, I typically don't. Because it is not an everyday habit, I tend to just carry depending on where I am going. I have carried at church more because where I have been, or will be going that day.

I grew up in SC. My family still lives there. My dad carries in church, and I know of at least 4 others at that church. Not a huge church, but about 300 on Sunday morning. Traditional, Southern Baptist Church.

Lots of other things WAY more likely to happen that you should plan for.

Why do people do everything backwards? Maybe it's just fear. The odds are soo low it's dumb. Better odds of getting snake bit, car wreck, stuck by lightning, tripping a HEB and hitting your head.....etc.

Do you shop at HEB with a helmet on? Wear snake chaps everyday? Stay at home and inside all the time? I don't care if someone carries but to see people think, plan, and debate something that's so unlikely to happen is strange.

I carry at church, as do several others in our church. If only a person or two would have been carrying at that church in Charlotte last night. What a heartbreaking tragedy. So much evil in this world....

Yeah, the folks in Charleston that may have agreed with you yesterday are glad they played the odds today, right?

You should only plan for things that are likely to happen. Duh!

That being said...

- remain outside during a thunderstorm

- if you hunt in south Texas, wear shorts and flip flops when you are walking around in the brush

It's common sense, people!
