Default The snake eggs started hatching today

and they were......snakes! Looks to be coachwhips. Mean little suckers! So far only three are out but looks like most of them will make it.

I asked that to the guy that has been incubating them for me and he said they cant/wont eat until their first shed which will be in about a week. Not sure what he will feed them after that. They will eventually be released.

Thought so, but in the picture he looks like a different snake than the others...one reason why it is difficult to ID snakes in pictures.

The baby coachwhips I've caught and seen look just like the adults. Racers have the blotches when they're little and turn a solid color when they get older.

Bullsnakes, garter snakes, water snakes, hognose snakes, rattlesnakes and kingsnakes look the same throughout their lives. They might have brighter and more noticeable markings but they don't change much throughout the remainder of their lives. Body types of the snakes helps give a basic idea of what they are when they're juveniles. Racers and Coachwhips have a thinner body and really skinny tail. Also the scales on top of the head are similar.

M R same as this one maybe. Baby Texas Rat Snake. Harmless and good to have around unless you have chickens. When they get big they will swallow the eggs or eat the baby chicks. Put them in a barn somewhere and there won't be any rats or mice before long.
