I always used 1/2 box yellow cake mix per can of peaches + the butter. Peaches on the bottom, then the cake mix, then the butter slices and cinnamon.

Made this tonight, sugar cookie dough(got it in the biscuit isle), some fresh peaches, and a couple of spoonfuls of butter. Baked on 350 for about 45min to an hour. Served with vanilla ice cream, man this is great stuff.

We make the same thing but we call it dump cake. We dont even stir it up. We just dump yellow cake mix in a pan then add pie filling on top and cut up a stick of butter all over it and bake.

So do you use the dry mix from the box or do you mix it with water?

We just use it dry. The liquid from the pie filling and the butter will make it crisp.

Same here. I've had to experiment with my recipe to get it right.

2/3's yellow cake mix - prepped as per box directions
                          Dump in and lightly mix:
2 large cans yellow peach slices, drain one of them
1 medium can cherry pie mix
                          1/2 stick of butter
                          cinnamon/sugar to coat the top

Onto the fire with hot coals on top. Rotate every 15 minutes. Open a new beer each time you rotate. When 1 hour has passed, open 'er up and stand back. There will be a stampede, esp. if you have some BlueBell Vanilla Bean ice cream to go with it.

I gotta do me a blueberry and/or blackberry cobbler next time.

I've done some of the above mentiond ideas with cake mix. If you want to take it way over the top,,, and that is what deer camp is for,, put some of that buttermilk icing over the top when it is still hot out of the over and things get real quite for a few minutes.. Like with most of my high fat camp recipies, make sure a couple folks know cpr.
