Go with a metal barrel that winches up!

Used to have several 5-gal plastic bucket feeders that the squirrels loved to chew on. Got a double handful of chili pequins and some japs----ran 'em thru the blender until they were liquid. Painted that on the bucket where they liked to chew---done. Just remember to wash your hands before rubbing your eye, picking your nose, or unzipping - - -

Slinkys work for me. I buy the cheap plastic ones from the dollar store and they work fine.

My post was in reference to the guy trying to sell 1200 that he has an inventory.

I have metal barrels and varmint cages that wrap all the way around the bottom of the barrel

Without a doubt......I also heard you can replace the feeder legs with pogo sticks too.

Spend the extra money on metal feeder with good varmint cages. Set some foot traps everytime you go out there.

You could try the wrapping mesh idea.

My experience with plastic barrels is once a little hole is formed, it's almost impossible to keep varmits from gnawing on that area. Patching it with just about anything won't work as they will rip it right off in no time.

What about buying a metal barrel and re-using the feeder timer and legs? I've done this with a couple feeders; couldn't use a 55 gallon barrel for the leg brackets I had, but they worked fine with a 35.

Like others have mentioned, PVC pipe works good.
