    Need help-Grandfathers guitar

i was hanging out at my folks house the other and my mom said i should go ahead and take my grandfathers guitar home. i was pretty excited but now need help!

i know nothing about guitars and would like to have it restrung and cleaned up. I am in the Dallas area and need someone i can trust with it. I hope to get it into playing shape and take lessons someday.

if anybody has suggestions please let me know.

    thanks
    Spencer

There is a very good shop in Hawkins TX. About 2 hrs away.

I have a Kay, but it's really beat up. Still has a really great sound though, better than my pretty one. You can restring it yourself and get a digital tuner to get it ready to play. No need for a shop really, unless you're just wanting someone to check it out. Beautiful guitar though!

This. And there are some pretty cheap apps that will teach you chords and melodies and will even act somewhat like the guitar hero video game and will listen to the notes you are playing and grade how you did on that "quiz" to help coach you along.

I am by no means a great guitar player but I've never had a lesson and get by pretty well. Get yourself a capo, learn a G, C, D, and Em chord and you would be a amazed at how many songs you can play with just those 4 chords.

After you start to get the hang of it, it gets a lot easier to add another chord in here or there.
