Default Netflix: "The Keepers"

Started watching the Netflix documentary series "The Keepers" last night. Two episodes deep into a seven episode series. If this thing continues to go the way it's headed, well, there must be some special seats reserved in hades.

Just when i think i have a handle on human depravity, i find a new low. Jeez.

I watched it last week. There are some evil people in this world. I went through a host of emotions watching that, mainly anger.

It's a good show. It also exemplifies why so many people hate the Catholic Church.

There's plenty of bad people in all walks of life. Churches, police departments, on and on. Lots of good folks too. But, dang it, the things people do...

Abuse by priest(s) in a Catholic school, cover up of murder by police dept'. Some sick stuff. Not for kids.

If you want to read about a similar episode in the history of the Catholic church, read: "The Nuns of Sant Ambrosio". Similar stuff, very similar stuff, from awhile back in Italy. Sick business.

It's along the same line as the movie, SPOTLIGHT - which documented the Boston archdiocese protection of predator priests.

Very good, but disturbing doc. Spotlight was more polished, and offered some degree of resolution, though.

I finished this last night. WOW. The level of corruption and ineptitude is astounding from police to the DA to the church. Sickening.

We finished episode 3 last night. Absolutely terrible. Can't imagine what I would do if I found out someone did this to a family member of mine.

Me and the wife started this show this week. We are going into episode 6. Crazy how many twist and turns this story has in it.

Overall a scary plot, especially the guy that had a look alike nun dressed in his attic that said she talked to him. CRAZY!

We started it this week too, and right now we are basically on the part where they are interviewing Edgar.....

Up to this point it sounds like the Billy guy and skippy killed her, but nothing has been said as to why, and it's all just theories at this point. I'm a bit confused because at first it was Maskell to cover up the rape issues, now it's pointing at other guys not associated with MAskell...

My theory is that some police officer / councilman / politician had her killed to protect themselves being involved with the preacher rapes.

Do they ever find out what happened at the end?

Just finished the series (exciting Friday night). No clue as to which of a whole slew of pigs to most upset with. So much sorriness. Emotions range from rage, to bewilderment. I guess i summed it up earlier: There must be some special seats reserved in hades for some of those involved and others just like them throughout the world (which there are plenty of). Jeez.

Because of this thread I binge watched the whole thing and can say I feel exactly as you do. Look at how many lives were ruined and scarred for life.

The whole brother bob thing really burns me up cause that POS never got caught or recognized.

That was very well made documentary.

Just powered through the series. I am almost speechless on what happened in the Church back then. The apparent cover up by the Archdiocese and the police is almost as bad as the actual abuse. Makes me sick

It seems that at least in Baltimore they still protect the Church above all else...they still won't admit that they knew about that priest and his abuse of kids. SMH

I grew up Catholic. My dad is ninety and i'm pretty sure he thinks my now baptist arse is doomed to burn in hell forever. Which maybe it is, but not because of the religion i choose to follow. At any rate, the Catholic church has a history of "issues". I don't believe for one second that these issues are peculiar to the Baltimore diocese. This may be an extreme case, but cover ups of one kind or another have been going on, and still go on, in that organization. And why not? It's a perfect system to harbor pedophiles, and other miscreants. I referenced this book in an earlier post, but check out the "Nuns of Sant Ambrosio". A sordid tale of a church in Italy from awhile back. This saga effected the course of the modern history of the Catholic church. Very sordid stuff.

The Baltimore police department? Wow. At a minimum, ineptitude of the highest order. More likely corruption at a high, if not the highest, level. The Baltimore prosecutors office? The word "stupid" comes to mind. A murder that was not even investigated? Jeez.

What a sick tale.

All that being true, I reckon there are a lot of good priests, bishops, police and prosecutors in Baltimore. THIS specific case just makes it hard to recognize them. Messed up saga.

unbelievable documentary. Exceptional directing and gum show work by the two gals. Jean/Jane Doe is an incredible woman. Wish they could have found closure. Wondering if Brother Bob was Billy or Skippy.
