Just a little. A bonefish can swim 40mph, and it takes them a LONG time to get tired.

nice. i've heard about those big bones out there and people catching them on the fly. that's an impressive fish when they get up over 5lbs.

Hells Yeah Chris - WAY TO GO BRO!

The South Florida - Bahamas bonies are simply way too commercial.

A SHAKA BONIE IS DA BOMB

My last Hawaii business trip had me along the South Shore near Dogtown and summer ground swell waves. I couldn't get my head right to think of fishing.....ALA MOANA was breaking 10ft! LOL!

That's a really nice bone Chris. They didn't average that big when I was stationed there only about 3 to 4#. Of course that was a long time ago. There was also good fly fishing for smaller sized hammerhead sharks, of all things.

Great bone! Much bigger than any of the ones I caught in belize last year. Was the water a little dirty? That would make it really tough to spot 'em

Pretty good one... you should try moloaki if you get another day to fish. Big big fish and no one around

Dale, it was average for Hawaii, but larger than what is typically caught in the continental US and the Carribean.

Rob, I actually stayed at the Ala Moana hotel most of the time. We fished on the SE side of the island, I think.

Mountaineer, as the day progressed, the water got dirtier, due to the wind blowing at about 15MPH.

                    That is something.

                    Living large indeed, Chris.

                    Well done!

Heck, fishing in Galveston Bay my whole life that water looks plenty clear to me! Bonefish is on my bucket list, cudos for taking one with a fly rod! I've got my Texas snook under my belt, I still need my Texas tarpon and a ten pound trout. Then I'll be focused on my bonefish, which should most likely conveniently happen around retirement.
