.44 mag deer

A couple years ago, I bought a .44mag Super Red hawk to hunt with. Never had an opportunity to kill anything with it. I worked up some hand loads and had the scope dialed in at 100 yards:




Long story short, shot this doe at 18 yards. She died at 20. Perfect heart shot.

Feel confident in anything out to 75 yards. Maybe further if you practice.

I've taken deer with my 41 mag revolver for over 24 yrs. Never had to look further than 50ft.

just be careful on the bullet selection, you really need to stay with heavier bullets so they penetrate and expand,,, if you stay with the lighter slugs you will give up penetration you need on angled shots or less than perfect placement..
the 44 mag is very good on deer

I have that same pistol, except I have a match dot ultra dot on it. Lots of fun to put an empty refrigerant can out at 50 yds or so and dance it around. Need to deer hunt with it.
