    Nikon D-40 lense problems

My Autofocus went out on my 2 yr old Nikon d-40 (the lens that came with it)
and Ritz/Wolf Camera wants 148.00 to fix it .My question to all u photo gurus would it be better just to buy another maybe a better quality lens instead of having this one fixed?

I guess it depends on the value of the lens. What lens is it that's broken?

What Shane said. Neither of the lenses that came with my D40 are worth over $300 so I would just put that money towards a bigger and better lense.

If it has VR built into it then I would lean towards getting it fixed if not buy a new lense.

I know you have already checked this, but... Make sure the switch on the lens is set to M/A not M. Click it back and forth a time or two. And if there is a switch on the camera, make sure it is on C or S not M. M is for manual focus in both instances. Also, I wouldn't trust Wolf/Ritz with any thing that I own.

I'd say that it's time to upgrade.
