Never expected to be doing this but here I am and my degree has maybe not been used to its full potential but definitely hasn't hurt me to have it and a lot of people from Tarleton in the oilfield so networking has been good
This is basically me. Graduated in 08 from Sam with bachelors in animal science minor in ag business then again in 10 with my masters in Ag. Been in sales in the oilfield since then. Always think about going back to an ag related job just hasn't happened yet.

Sounds like most work outside of the field but if it opens doors of opportunity for you it should payoff. If your open to other options then healthcare or STEM fields are usually good marketable degrees. Good luck

I have a bachelors degree in agribusiness. In the last 18 years since graduating college I have never once been asked about that degree when being interviewed for a job. My last year in college I sat down with my counselor and picked the one Ag degree that didn’t require 2 chemistry classes

I do. I love what I do, too. Agribusiness is the fastest growing degree field in the country. Tons of work out there.

I have an Ag-business degree & I am a Safety Specialist with an oil/gas mid-stream company. I was a process operator at a major chemical plant before getting into safety.

Great degree. Will lead to lots of different opportunities, I’ve been in Industrial Distribution for the most part since graduating.

I started as Ag Business at A&M, my engineer roommates talked me into switching to Industrial Distribution. Best advice a 19 year old kid ever gave me. That being said, I would have done Construction Science if I had to do it all over again.

                      Interesting.
I started at A&M Commerce in ‘01 majoring in business. Transferred to Blinn for a girl and ultimately ended up at SHSU majoring in AG Biz, minoring in General Biz. After Sam I got into ranch management, then a door opened into accounting, from there into estimating remodels/new home building and then back to accounting and have been there since.
Like another stated above, should have gone into Construction Sci, but as it stands right now, I make decent money but am not happy. Wouldn’t mind a career change into oilfield sales/service, inside sales, anything that puts me out from behind a computer screen half a day or more.

Graduated from Tarleton State with ag business and economics degree. Went into pipeline inspecting for a little while and then came home and started my own company. For me, it was not what I knew but WHO I knew.

I was Ag Development and actually used that degree working as a wind lease negotiator for a law firm for a few years. Then went in to the medical industry.

A bachelors today seems to be the equivalent of a HS diploma in my fathers generation.

I think a bachelors can lead anywhere. Nowadays it seems like you have to move up the path to the terminal degree to at least a masters to really focus and stand out.
