Quiet so far except for the donkey that thinks it is a rooster... or the rooster that sounds like a donkey. I have heard that thing every morning and evening for who knows how long. Just one of those things you always expect to hear.

(Pretty sure it is a donkey...)

Feeder goes off in 15 minutes... I hope.

Sitting in arguably my most favorite and most productive area. It had a bad battery for opening weekend. Hoping it spins.

Trying something different this morning. Got a dove decoy perched on my window. Got the idea from a fellow TBHer.

Think I will name it Bob

Decided to put an arrow into that deer when he gave me a head turned away, 16 yard shot. He lurched a bit and I hit him middle middle. Ran off with the arrow. Heard grunt and some crashing.

That's a bummer ! Same thing happened to me last year with a doe I hit in October I found the arrow 2 weeks ago , I thought the arrow was in her but it actually went through her into the dirt ,broadhead was rusted out. I feel your pain.

Just spent another hour and some change looking beyond previously, plus went back again to see if my mind was playing tricks on me and it did pass through. Thanks for the tip Roger.

Ran into a snag. When I nocked my arrow, I heard a twang... insert weight loose. Got down, walked back to camp and swapped out shafts.

It happens to the best. Good luck the rest of the weekend. I'm not having such a good lease trip either. Got here and power been out for at least a week. Whole house smells like a dead body with the freezer contents. Was also savagely attacked by a cow. I'm almost scared to shoot at one with the run of luck I've had.

Literally no sign buddy. I am scratching my head to. Even if I could call a dog, I dont have a single drop of blood. I grid searched a 30 acre tract of land... if I had a lead, I would be out there.

Long story short... the does came back yet again, but stayed to inside the treeline. Gonna stay a little extra for a remote chance at a hog... but not too long. Gotta pack for an early morning departure.

Hate the loss for you Scott. I have already lost one this season. The shot was extremely close and had to hit high. Arrow found it's mark, but no exit = no blood when you have to shoot the top of the shoulder. I founder her that evening thanks to the buzzards. SO ******, she hit the ground within 100 yards of the stand. Tall thick field walked by her. Started my search 50 yards to the south of her fall. Grid searched for several hours from those trees out. Never came back in towards the stand.
Yes I found her, but still the same result, no freezer meat yet. Keep pushing, good luck.
