A doe and her twins just walked by headed towards the feeder. Unfortunately, as much as I like that feeder.... the blind is too short and we never got out her to raise the roof over the summer.

That's why I'm glad both of my yahoo partners are other wise engaged this weekend. They like to drive around the place blaring the radio on their Rhino.

Back in the cabin listening to rain drops on the metal roof. Called it at too dark to see. Glad I saw deer and hogs... but I get the feeling that more snags are around the corner. Waiting on my fellow leasemate to arrive... and will start the usual struggle to sleep during opening eve.

You know, I was going to mention that premade sandwiches get soggy. It is good to know that little trick. My gut will not tolerate lunch meat. Even a little hint of preservative or MSG and I'm off to the races. Cold fried chicken or cold venison sausage works good. But mostly just give me a bag of cookies a day and I will survive.

Two hours before shooting light and you are in the blind? Wow, you are hungry!
I hope that you get to post the first ldp of the season.

I'm still looking at classifieds and drinking coffee. I hear coyotes even with the t. v on. Just need some daylight... No time to clean and quarter a deer this morning so will probably pass on any meat shots.

For the most part. I am hoping a doe walks by so I don't have to give it much thought.

Birds are out and about. Feeder goes off (fingers crossed) at 745

Just had 4 visitors. Spike and a doe... followed by 2 other bucks. The older buck spooked after jumping in the pen and they all wandered off.

Wasn't winded so chances are decent they come back later

We must have the same neighbors. I finally had to start sneaking to my set because if they see me heading to the blind, it sounded like Nitro Circus up and down the fence line.

... and then an hour later, after not seeing deer... you wish you had gone ahead and put a stalk on the jackrabbit...

Such are the turmoils of deer hunting.

How far is your blind from the feeder Rabbit?

This morning I sat off feeder and hand corned to see if any bucks might be around. Nada critter except for the Carolina Wren that decided to look for breakfast in the popup. I checked the feeder camera and had the regular several does.

Picking a risky spot to sit... will be down over where I heard all the 4 wheeling going on yesterday. It is hot and feeder goes of at 6 (was wrong about the time yesterday... I read the notes on my door wrong)

A tidbit for those following along. We didn't run cams this year... so I have no clue what is walking around... and no patterns.

I don't really rely on them. Only one time did I see a buck on cam and then go out and hunt it based on that info. It was my first year hunting.
