They story doesn't say it was legal for him to carry. Dime to a dollar he either didn't have a chl, ltc, or he had some sort of felony.

Typically when this stuff happens there is a pattern of behavior that exhibits itself long before the man showed up in a parking lot with a gun, getting worked up about a door ding.

The suspect, who has a handgun license, told police he thought Smith was reaching for a gun when he shot him, the news release said.

So, a guy who is arguing with you tells you he has a gun and then reaches behind his back like he is drawing and you shoot him. Wow...

I think what's going to bite the chl holder in the rear end is the fact he shot him 5-6 times; especially if any shots were to the "face"...shot placement says a lot of the situation, as is taught in the class.

The suspect is an idiot. Of course he is saying other guy told him he had a gun. Maybe he did it but it is possible the guy is just saying that.

Here is my take, the suspect had at point blank range already drawn down on the guys face and the guy had not even cleared his hands from behind his back (for whatever reason he was doing that for). You don't have to wait for him to shoot at you but you better make sure there is at least an object of some sort in his hand. If you already have your sights on his face at point blank and you cant wait to see if the guy has a gun or was just scratching his ***..............

He must not have been listening during the "non-violent dispute resolution" portion of the LTC class... Same as road rage - don't be any part of it - especially if you are carrying... Goodness Sakes!!! This is horrible.

Exactly.

I never understood how people can get that worked up over something so petty.

I had a guy punch out my truck window at our trailer park in rockport because he didn't like my driving. Came very close to the same outcome but having a clear head and calming the idiot down saved his life and possibly mine too.

It actually says in the article that the suspect has a handgun license....actually uses those exact words.

Verbal threats of guns tell you where these two were at-- far away from where they needed to be.

"He was initially charged with murder and taken into custody. Today, a judge ordered the shooter’s release citing a lack of probable cause—however, the murder charges remain. “The case is still open, even though the suspect has been released, pending further investigation, according to the judge,” says Lt. I want to say he made God, but I'm not positive.

The other jacked up cases I follow are Michael Slager, who I believe got a mistrial for a second time this week and ol' Aaron Hernandez who goes to trial this week for the two Boston murders. Also Adnan Syed who is waiting retrial.

I was a LEO 11 days and had a very similar incident happen. had a male drive up, jump out of a van , hand behind his back saying Shoot Me M Fers. Myself and 7 game wardens almost did. He did not have a gun.
We were working the shooting of a game warden.

Would like to know the whole story. Kinda sounds like the victim confronted the shooter as shooter was in his car. If some angry mofo came to my door threatening me and claiming to have a gun, and then reached behind his back, he might get shot. LEOs shoot unarmed people who they "think" may have a gun quite often. Every secnario is different.

The way I read it, it was the other way around. The shooter was the one who had his door dinged and the guy who got shot was in his car, hence the head/face shots. I could be wrong.
