Two young 8s in early. Good rain earlier to wash that blood out from the doe last night.

I made the decision to return to the lease on spending the money I had saved for my annual renewal of my business liability insurance. I did it knowing I was heading into the slow part of the year and concerned about making it up. But the last three weeks have been busy and I've already made back what I spent. I guess it was worth taking the chance.

Thanx MM.
Back on stand at the Flecha Rota. After a day of tractor tire repair and replacement then running wire and setting boxes in the ranch house to be we took the evening off to hunt. Corn is still on the ground from the morning throw and the feeder will go off again in 30 minutes. Hoping for a pig.
I left my quiver of hunting arrows at home but had a couple extra broadheads in my gear so I screwed them on some practice arrows. The string tracker is hooked up and I'm yawning.

Heard a pig behind me but he kept moving towards the pond about a 1000 yards away. Got dove . . .

I'm heading back to my lease Friday morning. My wife turns 26 for the 27th time tomorrow so I am going to stay home for that. Next week is a long week working on a structure on a lake between Abilene and San Angelo so whether I kill anything or not I'm going to enjoy some time on the stand.

Hit the lease today but we just spent time in camp. Got my camper set, an outlet to power it installed at the box and put together another feeder to set up tomorrow. Drinking some beer and enjoying camp today. Looking forward to the morning hunt.

Had several deer in early. One that needed to be shot But is too young. No brows and 4 on the left only a fork on the right. A couple of decent FDCs though. All quiet now except for a young doe with her two fawn.

Didn't hunt tonight. Put a long travel on my golf cart. Enjoying some Crown and a good camp fire. Set up a new feeder at an old spot where I put a pop up the other day. Will sit there in the morning. Right now it's a good campfire, good friends and good whiskey.

In a pop up blind. Feeder we set up yesterday. Put out some hand corn. Had a 3yo 8 point grab a bite and walk off. Feeder set for 6:45.

Feeder just spun. Sitting in my pop up. Caught a couple of young coons out and about on the way to the stand. One took two solid thumps from a Thumper head. The second shot was moving at about 30 yards.. But he hobbled off and I had to get here. Young doe already eating.

Ended up having 3 doe come in. Two of which were shooters but between them fighting over the corn and the eight point I never got a clean look until after the sun went down. Then thoughts of blood trailing in the dark went through my mind and . . . Well tomorrow is another day.

Back in the pop up and 25 minutes until feeder throws. 30 degrees but no wind. Hope we get a little breeze. The swirling skunk scent is strong.

Sick of working and no killing. On my way to the lease. Cold and windy but I will be in a tripod before the feeder goes off. There's no going home til blood is drawn.

I'm terrible at the age judging gig myself, this being my first year hunting whitetails. But I'll take your word for it. Is 4.5 your minimum age you want to shoot?

Lease rules. 8 points have to be 4. Culls approved as young as 3 but trophies have to be 6. His body shape temps me but he has a baby face.

It's a good management stratagy providing everyone plays by the same rule and you don't have a neighbor that shoots EVERYTHING. Good looking deer and looked like a fun hunt.
