Default What the hell is wrong with kids these days?

So the family and I just walked into PeiWei for dinner. We order and I told the girl taking our order that I wanted 3 egg rolls. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: can we also get 3 egg rolls please?
Her: I'm sorry, we only sell eggrolls in 1,2 or 4.
My wife: can you do an order for one and another order for 2?
Her: Yes, we can do that.
Me: (disgisted face and roll eyes)
My wife: yup, that adds up to 3

What the hell is wrong with these kids these days. They have no common sense. Can't add. If the computer says something then that's what you get.

Maybe I have one at least that good. I went to Subway with a friend and he ordered a 6 inch sandwich. I was next and I ordered a 12 inch wheat. She said I am sorry, we donít have that. OK give me the 12 inch white. She said Iím sorry we donít have that either.

OK I asked, what kind of bread do you have? She said all of them. I said Iíll take the 12 inch wheat. She said we donít have that........ we only have 6 inch and foot-longís. We do not have 12 inch sandwiches.

My mistakeÖ Give me the foot long wheat.

My friend look at me and said, I am just glad that I was here to witness it.

SMDH. It truly is unbelievable.

What's funny is when we sat down I asked my FOUR YEAR OLD if I have 1 egg roll and add 2 egg rolls how many do I have. He said that's easy. 3 Daddy.

Generations demand different skill sets. Kid could probably build you a website or fix your iphone too. How often do we get a 'solve my 5th graders homework' post. Though I do agree with the general decline in common sense. It started a lot longer than 20 years ago. I scratch my head at people near twice my age all the time

I called in a delivery order for dinner the other night....the girl taking the order says 20 minutes it will be there. One hr later I call and they said the delivery guy couldnt find us. He kept trying to call and the person answering said wrong number. I asked the guy what number and street name he had. She had transposed some of the digits of the phone number and the street name was Riverperch....I spelled Rivercoach for her. After I orginally placed the order and hung up, I told my wife the girl I talked to was dumber than a box of fruit loops. She proved me right.

Oh, this one has been pissing me off for years! Usually they just get befuddled for a few seconds and either figure it out or---more often---type it in and let the computer tell them what to do. But sometimes you just get a gem:

Had a bill a few months ago at TSC for $16.50. Gave the girl $21.50. Her eyes got huge and she said, "Oh, no, sir. We are not allowed to take that with customers, sir." I asked what she was talking about and she said, "Oh, we're s'posed to get a manager when someone does that."

I asked, "When someone does what?" She said they've been scammed before. I told her $21.50 minus $16.50 is $5, that I just wanted a five dollar bill back. She looked blank, then got frustrated and snorty and told me the twenty was enough to cover the bill. I asked her to go ahead and get the manager. Manager comes over, not happy because she's got stuff to do. She asked what the problem was and the girl said, "This guy's bill is only $16.50 and he's trying to give me $21.50!" She said it like I'm the idiot, with a slight roll of her eyes.

Manager gets the red arse and nearly screams at the girl, "So give him $5 change! Good grief, [girl's name]!" The girl looked blank then her eyes lit up, saying she gets it now.

It's frustrating.

Bad parenting....

People support their kids financially all the way through college and BEYOND, then wonder why they fail to launch. Pathetic parenting.

People don’t discipline their children.

People make up excuses for their children.

People honestly believe that their children are perfect/special.

That’s how you end up with people that can’t cope.

Here is one from recent. Order chicken at chicken express. Who doesnít like their chicken! Anywho, I wanted 3 jalapeŮos. They sell them in 1, 2, and a family of 4 or 5. Canít remember. You can guess what happened. ďSorry sir, we donít sell them in 3Ē. Lol. After a short debate and my fiancť seeing as well as hearing the frustration with stupidity growing, she spoke up and said we will take the family pack. Made it even worse that we were in the drive through. I told Caci, you realize we spent a dollar more for jalapeŮos right? She said it was worth a dollar for me not to lose my chit with someone incompetent. That woman knows me way too well! Lol

Who said anything about "raising people's" kids??

Schools are institutions of learning.. They do not teach anymore.. Our school systems have been politicized... Try common core math and get back with me..
Ask any senior how many quarts are in a gallon, how many inches are in a foot, how many pints in a quart, how many 8th's of an inch are in a inch.. The list goes on... And these are just the basics.. I learned these in the 4th grade.. It's greak to many seniors these days..

Angleton High school has done away with all vocations. No welding. No wood shop. No auto mechanics.. How in the hail can a school system possibly justify this??????? They can't.. Their answer was "we can't find instructors" bullshat!!!!!!

It's ridiculous.
The public school systems Are broken.. They are a politically driven sad site these days..

Likely not. Our society has worsened over time largely due to becoming dependent on technology. Like someone mentioned above....they can't use common sense or add/subtract but cold likely reprogram your computer.

If you think that this thread is about Chinese food, well, you missed the point entirely. Just go back and read the title then read the rest of the thread. There is a common theme here and it's not Chinese food.

Also, thanks for pointing out the misspelled WORD. Autocorrect on the phone will do that sometimes but I wouldn't expect you to understand. Perhaps you shouldn't use so many spaces.

No it's not. It's on the parents. And as much as I roll my eyes these days, I try more and more to explain situations like these to the person. Be part of the solution...

To hear people talk about other people's kids, your kids should be millionaire's by 30.

I went to school with some 1st rate morons...and several of them are millionaires right now....

I don't believe he was suggesting that. Of course it's the parent's responsibility. But the sad truth is kids spend as much time around teachers as they do their parents. #commoncore

Now it is our responsibility to be more influential.

Was at DQ my buddy in front of me ordered a single Patty burger with nothing on it. I ordered a double with everything. He got a bun without a beef Patty and I got a single Patty burger. He had to go back and get the meat for his burger. I just ate what I had figured trying to get a double cheeseburger was to hard for them.

Common sense isnít so common. I like when ordering tacos. Steak or chicken? When I say beef they inform me they donít have beef.

To hear people talk about other people's kids, your kids should be millionaire's by 30.

I went to school with some 1st rate morons...and several of them are millionaires right now....
I don't disagree about the parents' role here. My point is, IMHO, our educational system is not helping matters, and I feel it's being done do intentionally. That is sll.

Bottom line it's just too easy and beneficial to breed in the liberal world.

I asked for Sweet-n-low at Jackinthebox the other day and 3 employees didnt know what I was talking about. I finally said "pink sweetener" before they figured it out.

also these kind of people are trying to dictate to the rest of us how we raise our own children. Its legal to spank in texas but that doesn't mean that when your 9 yo gets 3 licks for lying that a snowflake teacher wont call cps. and once they open an investigation they got you whether you get charged or not.

Love!

This is all too common these days.
My son was in FFA in high school. The ag department ran the concession stand at football games. My wife and I would help out. We had to train these kids, how to add and make change. By the third game we had dang good kids working the front. At first , two popcorns, a snicker and a coke would blow their mind. After a little coaching, they had it.
