Little time on the farm dog style

I have posted some of these "here and there" but figured I needed to put them in one place to better illustrate the goings on during a deep South Texas cotton season.

Farmdog checking ahead of the pickers.

    Mr. Ortega's killer crop.

    Cotton left, cane right

Trying to finish before TS Don

    Gettin' it

    The point

    Spindle check

    Maids of cotton

    William and Hillary

    The last row.

Hopefully I can knock out some images of the cotton gin in the near future.

    Thanks

Yeah, I have lots of decent pics. These are the ones that jumped out at me but I have many more that I need to load into flickr. I figure I'm about half done.

                    Thanks

Ahhhhh those pictures remind me of my younger days in the 60's when I was driving one of those pickers ... 18 hour days and nights. Many times we would pick by head lights after nightfall. had the wind in the face going upwind and tons of dirt and debris when we made the turn downwind. My hat's off with lots of respect to those hardy farming folks who continue to do it year after year.

From my uneducated view....it appears this year's cotton crop was pretty darn delightful to many through-out STex and harvest appeared to be roughly 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule from the norm?

Man the Girls are growing up too fast!!!!!!!!!!!

All of these were shot with the 12-24 tokina with a polarizer for the skies.

                              link to the Nikon version

I did use the Nikon 70-200 some but I'm afraid it may be on it's last legs. Very slow to focus and often spins the opposite direction... I need to send it off for repair.
