My BiL would lie to impress you. If you didn't look impressed then it would get added to until you did. Here's my favorite. While visiting here from their Colorado home, he told me he killed an antelope that should be very near a world record. I replied "Well that's real good". He says "I shot it with my Ruger .44 mag." I say "Yeah, more people are hunting with pistols every day". He says "It was a 160 yards". "That's a pretty fair shot" I say. "It was running" he added. I say "Really?" He says " I was too. Well, actually, I wasn't. The horse I was on was." I say "Holy cow, unbelievable". He says "Oh yeah, you should try to think your lead out when your target is moving and you are too."

Later I asked my sister how she liked antelope. She says " How would I know".

No truer words! But man, they sure are fun.

Now, give her a beer and put her to bed!

I can help.

I bought a 1500 dollar deer camp special so my wife and son would have a hidin place at deer camp when the weather goes to ****.

I call it the fourth wheel.

It was already at deer camp, but lacked style and needed some TLC, so I drug it home today.

The expected flat was no big deal, but I dented one of the baby moons changing it.

Me and Fred spent most of the afternoon cleaning up and fixing minor stuff.

The aforementioned bride and miniature human got home, and stopped all progress.

Snoop wants to sleep in it, so I had to level, stabilize, and plug in. So I'm sleeping in the deer lease camper in the driveway of a perfectly good house that I pay the mortgage on.

There is a 100% chance he will Pee out the door in the morning.

All 100% true. Good times!

Hell yeah Dale! Good times and good memories there my friend!

I'm a bit perplexed though. How is your memory making night supposed to help me feel better about myself?

I have a family member identical to this... He will go out of his way to exaggerate everything, even little things, to the point that it is totally unbelievable!!! He will even lie about and exaggerate to me about things that we witnessed together.. The whole time he is talking Im looking at him like he 's a idiot... It's never ending.

I just don't get it.. It has to be a mental problem.. Whatever it is It gets old quick..

I got two uncles that are preachers and two or three that are hethens. Heck one of them broke his neck and died trying to race a horse.

The list went on and on.

He went to her dad about it before he blew the top off the whole lie and her dad freaking knew that she wasn't pregnant and had been lying. He said that she did the same thing to another guy before and that he had to bail her out from that mess. Whole dang family was nuts.

The first day of class we do the "whats your story" routine around the class. He goes first. He came out swinging. Global securities expert hired by multiple countries around the world, created the security systems to run Wall Street. Name it he had his hands in it somehow. Some of witch came to be true but it was the non tech stories that were gold.

A few days into class a group of us went out for lunch. Somebody mentioned Eddie is a few sammiches short of a picnic. We all laughed and agreed to push the envelope and ask him more garbage to see what he would say. Priceless.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer in a Mexican hospital while on vacation because he was coughing up blood. He broke out of the hospital one night and came home. He didn't eat any real food but drank coffee, ate a few bags of peanut M&M's and switched from smoking 2 packs of smokes a day to a pipe. Three months later he was cured.

He beat the NYC marathon record one year but no one will ever know because he didn't want to pay the fee so he didn't have a number bib.

NASA has him on retainer so when they want to develop new technology they can call him to see if it will work.

There were tons more I can't remember but this is my favorite.

One Monday morning the class was talking before he walked in. Some Tom Cruise movie came out that weekend and a few people saw it and were talking about it. Eddie walks in and picks up on the conversation & joins in.

He says he spent some time in Hollywood but lost interest in it due to the people there. He asks who was in the movie the people say.

"Ah Tom Cruise. Do you know I actually was offered the part in one of the movies he stared in?"

Please tell us Eddie.

"Top Gun. I tore the contract up when they told me they wouldn't let me fly the plane myself."

I ****** myself.
That's hilarious!

I got a buddy that would rather stand on a cactus and lie to you than stand on the ground and tell you the truth. Problem is he was an army ranger (that parts true) and has seen some crazy **** so a lot of times you really don't know if his story is true or not lol.

The real question for me is...do pathological liars know they're pathological liars? I'm certain some will read this thread. Do they know what they are or is there some sort of short in their brain that doesn't allow them to realize?

Based on the one I am dealing with right now, I really don't believe they know what they are doing. There is something screwy going on in their brain. They live in a fantasy land and they really just start believing the lies they tell to be truth. Problem is, they lie so much they keep getting caught in them and tell more lies to try and hide the lie they got caught in.

Had a neighbor for a little while that I only hung out with once because of his stories. We had just moved in to our first home in Cypress and some neighbors down at the end of the street were having a party. We walked down to introduce ourselves and were met by the owner who immediately started telling some pretty tall tales. What this dude didn't know was that I am a die hard baseball guy, even played all 4 years of college. He goes on to say that he was a 2nd round draft pick, starting shortstop blah blah blah. Then he said that he ran a 3.2 home to first. I said really? Cause that would be faster than Michael Bourn (this was 9 years ago FYI). I said where did you play your college ball? He says UofH. I said oh yeah, when did you play? He says 2004-2006. I said oh cool, by the way, do you know a guy named Brad Lincoln? NOPE, CAN'T SAY I DO.

Brad and I grew up playing together and are still friends to this day. He was the 4th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2006 draft out of UofH... and you don't know him even though you played with him for 3 years.

We never hung out again lol.

My sister's BIL came back from the Marines, he was stationed in Japan. He told everyone he was in combat, medical discharge, etc... He was always the guy that listened to rap music, wore his hat backwards, basically acted like a thug wannabe. Found out he failed a drug test multiple times and was removed from the marines. I rarely hung out with him, but we did run around a few towns and party (early 20s). I met him several years later and he was a straight up cowboy haha. We ended up working together, and he would tell on lie after another. Sometimes he would tell me a story that he said happened to him, but it was something I did and he was there when I did it. We actually had a step-brothers type interview, and he told the guy we were interviewing with that he and I were roping champs back home. He even had belt buckles made, to cover the story. I know for a fact he had never ridden a horse at that point. His wife still thinks that we were team roping champs, 10 years later. She is also under the impression that he and I were in "war" together. I have never been in the military. Ever. He is a good provider for his family, and I like to think that he realizes how all those lies add up over time. I have seen him a few times over the years, and he has done fairly well for himself, so I still hold out hope haha

Edit: I believe he actually learned to rope, because his wife is from a ranching family. haha, so there is a silver lining there.

"I used to work for the CIA" is my tipping point for pathological liars.

Yeah. A friend introduced me to a guy he had met. After we talked for a while, and he "trusted" me, he started telling me about being a spook. I just looked at my friend. When I got up to get another beer (we were camping), my friend followed me. He said "what was that look for?" I said this guy is full of ****. My friend goes, what, you don't believe him about being a spook? I told my buddy, spooks don't tell people they are spooks. Some people.

Guy in high school was always a one upper. Anything, and I mean anything, that you did he had done bigger and better than you. Now we are all in our 30s and he is still the same way. He is always the owner of a restaurant that he cooks at or the bar that he bartends at. Whenever we ask him why he keeps switching jobs when he owns these businesses he tells us that he was bought out and starting his new venture. Whenever you ask the people at said restaurant or bar they tell you that the owner got fed up with his crap and fired him. My buddy's dad described him perfectly: he is just a storyteller.
