    Foxes Barking/Yelling/Screaming

Oddest sounds at the ranch last weekend after dark. Went looking with a spotlight and AR. Finally decided on chupacabras as the only answer. Next day my friend saw one making the noises.
Anybody else experienced this? Why do they do it? Been there 10+ yrs and never heard it before?
FYI - foxes, badgers, skunks, and snakes are “live and let live” protected on our place.

Yes. It really gets yours attention when you're out calling at night and one sneaks up behind you and barks! They typically do it when they smell you or are alarmed in some way.

Sounds often mistaken for mountain lion in the eastern region of the state.

Google vixen scream. Mostly used by females ready to breed.

I think they must be breeding now cause they been making enough racket around here lately to keep all the dogs in the hood stirred up.
