I am in East Texas around Crockett. We normally plant oats in small patches. Any opinions on what else I should plant? Was thinking about trying radishes but not sure how they will grow. Any thoughts or experiences?

I am in Rusk county, for the fall/winter I typically plant wheat rather than oats, the wheat is much more cold tolerant than are the oats.
The wheat is over seeded with a mixture of Crimson clover and Apache arrowleaf clover. These plots provide feed for the deer into late April and May depending on temperatures and rain.
Summer is a mix of brown top millet and Alyce clover.
