    I have heard them called Shaggy Oaks and or Hawthorn's. On a good year they will drop an unreal amount of acorns.

          I am not sure but from what I can tell Quercus Boyntonnii which is extremely rare but it’s the only thing that lines up.

                      looks like a standard white oak to me ... don't know about the Mexican part. Good to have either way.
